Frenchville Maine Visitors can visit the "Caboose" Museum to view Frenchville memorabilia including books and antiques. The historical society site includes the B & A Railroad caboose, a wooden water tower, and the old station house.
St. Agatha Maine Visitors can view the St. Agatha Historical House which is a small museum. Inside are artifacts that depict the life of the people who lived in early St. Agatha. Most artifacts date from the late 1800's to the early to mid 1900's.
Fort Kent Maine Participate in the Fort Kent International Muskie Fishing Derby held in August. The fishing takes place on the St. John River and its tributaries; the Fish River; and the St. Francis River; and includes Glazier Lake as well as Beau Lake.
Madawaska Maine Attend the yearly Acadian Festival; Maine's largest cultural festival. Events include a re-enactment of the first Acadian landing in northern Maine, a "family reunion", and many more cultural activities. The festival is usually held in late June.
Van Buren Maine Tour Van Buren's Acadian Village listed on the National Registry for the Preservation of Historical Landmarks, it showcases much of the cultural heritage of the Acadians of the Saint John Valley settled during the mid-eighteenth century. The village contains several dwellings including a chapel, a general store, a country schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, a museum, a gristmill, and a wool carding mill. Open daily mid-June to mid-September.
Madawaska Maine International Snowmobile Festival features snowmobile events on both sides of the International Border in Madawaska, Maine and Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada. Snowmobile enthusiasts from throughout the U.S. and Canada converge on the beautiful St. John Valley for three days of riding Maine's top rated trails. Usually held early February.
St. Agatha Take part in the Long Lake Fishing Derby prizes given for the largest Salmon, Togue, Brook Trout, Largest Cusk, and a Booby Prize. Get ready for 2 days filled with fun, derby's held at the end of January.
Fort Kent Maine The CAN-AM Crown International Sled Dog Races are usually held late February, with 30, 60, and 250 mile races. The 250 mile race runs deep into the famous Allagash Wilderness of extreme northern Maine.
